Apply as a Transfer Student

To apply online to Jefferson as an undergraduate student, complete the Jefferson Online Application or Common Application and submit all supporting materials by the below deadlines.

Transfer Applicant Deadline:

Fall Regular Decision Deadline: June 1
Spring Regular Decision Deadline: December 1

Once your application materials are received, your application will be presented to the Admissions Committee and you will be notified of a decision in approximately 4-6 weeks.

Applications received after the regular decision deadlines will be reviewed on a space-available basis.

Application Materials:

To be considered for admission to Jefferson, transfer application must submit the following. International students, please review the International Student section at the bottom of this page for additional English proficiency and documentation requirements.

  • $40 non-refundable application fee.
  • Official high school transcript(s) for fewer than 30 credits.
    • If you have fewer than 30 college credits earned, you must provide an official high school transcript, or official copies of secondary school marks or exam results if you are an international applicant. Photocopies of school records are permissible for evaluation purposes but if offered admission, official documents are required.
  • SAT and/or ACT scores (only needed if you have less than 30 college credits earned). Our SAT code is 2666 and our ACT code is 3668.
  • Letter of recommendation from a teacher or counselor who can speak to your academic preparation and college readiness. Click here to download the recommendation form.
  • Transcripts for all previous college work.
    • International applicants should also submit a course by course evaluation from a NACES member academic credential evaluation service. Visit www.naces.org for a list of members. Photocopies of school records are permissible for evaluation purposes but if offered admission, official documents are required.
  • Essay (250 - 650 words)
  • Students applying for transfer to Architecture or Fashion Design must submit a portfolio.

  • Minimum TOEFL scores: 79 IBT; test must have been taken within last two years
  • Minimum IELTS score: 6.5; test must have been taken within last two years
  • Official SAT or ACT Exam Results

  • ELS 112 Certificate of Completion
  • Completion of English Composition I at a United States college or university with a “B” or higher
  • Citizenship from a country where English is an official language (See List).
