Office of Marketing and Communications

Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University)’s Office of Marketing and Communications works to increase awareness, understanding and support of Jefferson’s vision, mission and accomplishments. Working with the Chancellor, deans, academic administrative leaders, faculty and staff, we provide communications services and support — significantly contributing to the advancement of the University’s image/brand as it relates to its target audiences, local community and internal and external constituents.

Included in the department’s activities are market research, brand management, advertising, all internal and external publications and communications, creative services, web site development and management, media relations, community relations, special events, as well as speech writing and official correspondence.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to contact the Office of Marketing and Communications for any communication or promotional needs at 215.951.2851. More detail and contact information on specific services is below:

The department develops and produces the University’s key publications, including Jefferson Today, Innovator Magazine, annual Highlights books and more. Additionally, the Office of Marketing and Communications is responsible for editorial, design, photography coordination and other support services for brochures, newsletters, ads, posters and other projects essential to communicating the University’s messages.

Media Relations

The department’s media relations specialists work with local, regional and national media to secure coverage for the University. Through strong relationships with faculty and staff, stories are identified and developed about academic programs, research initiatives, faculty accomplishments, general higher education topics and student life issues. Through the distribution of news releases, pitching and placing stories, arranging media visits and other forms of formal communication, this function seeks opportunities to position faculty and administrative executives as experts in their fields and increase exposure and awareness of the institution.

If faculty or staff are contacted by a member of the press directly, he/she is responsible for notifying the director of public relations immediately. Working with the vice president for marketing and communications, the director of public relations is responsible for coordinating media requests on behalf of the University.
