Title of Position:
Engineering Technical Associate

Full-time, 10 month contract

School of Design and Engineering, Engineering Programs


Philadelphia University Engineering seeks an individual to serve in a full-time capacity as Engineering Technical Associate within the School of Design and Engineering.  The successful candidate should be self-motivated and educationally focused with background, experience, and ability that includes several of the following:  

•    build and trouble-shoot mechanical systems
•    build and trouble-shoot electronic and mechatronic systems
•    operation of basic mechanical, electrical and chemical testing systems
•    work in a hands-on, educational lab environments with students and faculty
•    promote and support a safe, clean, and organized educational laboratory environment
•    basic computational abilities including programs in the MS Office suite
•    communicate effectively with individuals and organizations within the university system

Furthermore, the candidate should have an ability and willingness to learn and support lab activities related to disciplines in that are part of the Engineering program as they exist and may develop.

Education Required:
A minimum of high-school degree with proven work experience and an ability to work within a STEM-based educational environment.  Bachelor of Science or Associates degree in a related field is preferred.


Responsibilities for this job include the oversight, monitoring and support of current and developing laboratories, facilities, equipment, and supplies that directly and indirectly serve the educational and research mission of Philadelphia University Engineering programs. 

In collaboration with the Director of Engineering Programs and the Dean of the School of Design and Engineering, the employee will communicate with the offices across the university required to generate, facilitate and support work orders leading to the efficient and effective use of Engineering facilities and equipment.
