Faculty Position

Title of Position:
Adjunct Instructor, Knit Design Studio I

Part-time, one-semester contract

Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce, School of Design and Engineering

Successful candidates will have an excellent understanding of creative textile design and will be qualified to teach the courses as outlined below. Each position requires exceptional communication skills and experience providing design critiques. Industry experience that includes creative-concept development through product development is preferred. Experience teaching at the university level is preferred.

Education Required:
A master’s degree or five or more years of experience in the textile design industry is required. Familiarity with Passap equipment is required.

This faculty member will teach undergraduate students methods to create a range of texture and color effects within knit design. Independent needle selection and the use of the presser foot will be explored within design areas involving Jacquard, held-stitch and tuck-stitch structures. Design ideas will be developed through to swatch/sketch proposals suitable for sweater production.
