Right from the beginning of our planning process, we believed we were capable of doing something really special for a number of reasons. First, we have an educational tradition embedded in its connection to industry. We also have a history of melding scientific thought, business acumen and design skills in the marketplace. And entrepreneurial spirit has always been encouraged and fostered here. From our vantage point, we thought if we could formalize these assets into a common institutional mission, we could offer something truly original and change the way we and other institutions deliver value to students. And we’ve done just that. What has emerged is an amazing momentum. In many ways, PhilaU is benefiting from higher education’s questioning of its own value proposition. Everyone wants to see a more direct result from what they do—a tangible return on investment.
