Revloutionary Integrative Design Process Prepares Students to Identify Problems and Create Opportunities Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce launched the first of its four core courses last fall with Integrative Design Process (IDP), a course designed to teach freshmen to identify problems and create opportunities. Throughout the semester, students learned to work in collaborative teams of design- ers, engineers and business students, tackling real-world problems they discovered through observation and research. Students analyzed busy intersections, libraries and parks, and determined ways in which those spaces were not meeting people’s needs. They then developed solutions to those problems and refined them consulting with users of the sites. By focusing on collaboration and real-world experience, PhilaU helps students be- come creative thinkers who can analyze a situation and identify ways to create value. Nexus Learning
