Benefiting The PhilaU Fund and Department of Athletics

Thursday, June 8, 2017

Plymouth Country Club
Plymouth Meeting, PA

Philadelphia University has a proud and long tradition of athletic excellence; student-athletes at PhilaU have a phenomenal academic success rate, graduating at a rate of 90%. With 16 NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports teams, numerous intramural sports and a wide array of recreation activities, close to 50 percent of PhilaU students participate in athletics. Become a part of the tradition and join us for a day of golf in support of The PhilaU Fund and the Department of Athletics. Your participation in this event will provide support for financial aid, team travel expenses, equipment updates, recruiting the best players, facility improvements, and team development.

On behalf of the Golf Committee, I invite you to join us along with many other alumni and friends of Philadelphia University at Plymouth Country Club on Thursday, June 8, 2017 for the 16th Annual Philadelphia University Robert C. Lockyer ’68 Golf Invitational. Each year the Golf Invitational is the single, most important, fundraiser for the Department of Athletics, directly providing much needed sporting equipment for student-athletes and essential financial assistance for student-scholars. In fact, proceeds from last year’s outing made it possible to replace all of the cardio equipment in the wellness center.

This year promises to be a lot of fun, with great hole-in-one prizes, giveaways, and more. Held at the prestigious Plymouth Country Club in nearby Plymouth Meeting, I am confident that with your support we can reach — and even exceed — an ambitious fundraising goal of $80,000.

Founded in 1912 and designed by William S. Flynn, Plymouth Country Club offers a beautiful 18-Hole Championship golfing experience that will delight players and sponsors alike. Space is limited, please register as early as possible!

If you require special accommodations, need more information, or are interested in donating an item to our Silent and Live Auction, please contact Chris O’Brien in the Department of Athletics at 215.951.5943 or email .

Best wishes,

Robert Lockyer '68

Your support of the PhilaU Golf Invitational will benefit our student-athletes like:

Alexandra Harrington

“I am proud to be a student-athlete at PhilaU where I can be involved in the classroom and on the court. This wouldn’t be possible without the support around campus for our athletic programs.”

Alexandra Harrington ‘19 - Volleyball, Fashion Merchandising and Management

Abraham Almonte

“The baseball scholarship I received supported me through a Bachelor’s degree and I’m currently working on a Master’s degree. PhilaU has allowed me to be the best version of myself on and off the field.”

Abraham Almonte ’16 - Baseball, Business Accounting/MBA Candidate

Tori Arnao

“I like being a student-athlete because my academic success is stressed just as much as athletic success, and I have opportunities to give back to the community with my team.”
